O b j e c t i v e s
- Transform a fire-damaged container into a safe, fully functional workshop.
- Establish a dedicated carpentry space to design and build key infrastructure in-house, including pergolas, decks, and compost systems.
- Support the Regenerative Masterplan by providing the tools and fabrication capacity needed for agroforestry, water management, and landscape interventions.
- Create a hands-on learning environment where residents, volunteers, and visitors can develop practical skills rooted in regenerative design.

- Following the wildfire of August 2025, we repurposed one of the damaged Basecamp containers into a fully equipped carpentry workshop. This transformation is part of a broader effort to reorganise the entire Basecamp into a more efficient and resilient operational hub.Alongside a future metal workshop and a dedicated PPE container, this space contributes to an integrated system designed to improve workflow, safety, and overall productivity.
The renovation prioritised durability and functionality. We installed OSB wall panels, anti-slip rubber flooring, and custom-built wooden cabinetry. The workshop is organised into clearly defined zones, featuring professional-grade woodworking equipment, secure tool storage, and a French cleat system for flexible, efficient organisation.
O u t c o m e s
This workshop reduces reliance on external contractors, lowers transport and material costs, and accelerates the implementation of essential infrastructure across the land and villages.
Beyond its practical function, it serves as a learning hub—empowering residents, volunteers, and visitors with the skills and confidence to build, repair, and maintain the regenerative systems at the core of the project.
